We will examine some traditions and people who partake in associating partners with Allah the premise here is that worship of God Alone (without partners) is the natural way of man, confirming this are the messengers and reinforcing and setting the moral limits with the law. These prophets form the bulk of the Abrahamic faiths. Islam, Judaism and Christianity exceeding these moral and worship limits is from the Shaitan (Satan). The aims of shaitan can be summarised to exceed limits in all respects such as in sexual conduct and other immoralities, behaviours etc. Jinn (Spirit) induced Psychosis has been documented in my other articles and is an undeniable fact to those that first believe in the spirit world. In Islam sin, it has hierarchies the top of at which is disfiguring, exceeding limits, mocking the ways and means of worshipping the creator.
What is sometimes missing from books that I have read is the attempt at man to access the unseen world knowingly and unknowingly. The connection of these attempts through intoxication and how its relation to Shirk is lacking.
Muslims believe that corruption occurred from the worship of God purely in oneness to the multiplicity of worship. Here I will try to illustrate the connection between this corruption and the link with Shaitan and the ways nearest (waseelah) is achieved to him:
".. O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants (khamr), gambling, [sacrificing on] stone altars [to other than God], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. (Quran 5: 90)
We can infer from the above verse that the work of the Shaitan is in the use of intoxicants and Shirk (associating partners with God). Can we see this verse applied in the traditions of the world? Let us examine some and highlight the relationships of "intoxication" as a means to gain nearness to the "Truth" but as Muslims we say as Muslims is that it is in fact their gaining nearness to what is evil.
Interestingly altered states of consciousness and rituals and part of many religions folk and otherwise.
Hinduism and the occult generally overlaps leading occultists such as Blavatsky and Crowley both looked to India and her religions as inspiration in the search for enlightenment.
I would put scientific atheists the category of Neo-Paganism rooted in old nature worship traditions due to them given "natural selection" all power. One must wonder if they believe that the cell itself is responsible for morality, good and evil and consciousness. Nature worship often overlaps with satanic beliefs both of whom give nature itself the power to create a force mysterious.
Mesoamerica
The Mesoamerican civilizations
(Aztec/Mayan) the use of DMT (Intoxication) based plants that induced
hallucinogenic and other altered states was an important part of their rituals.
Human sacrifice to the Gods at Altars was common.
"Human sacrifice occupied a particularly important place in Mesoamerica. Many of the region's cultures, including the Maya and the Mexica, believed that human sacrifice nourished the gods. Without it, the sun would cease to rise and the world would end. And sacrificial victims earned a special, honoured [sic] place in the afterlife." [1]
Aleister Crowley and the new age
Aleister Crowley and the New
Age:
An argument can be made that Crowley
is the father of modern pop culture in its various forms. Crowley's extensive
use of mind altering substances was justified as means to attain the
"secrets" of life. Crowley being an example of a man that fully
immersed himself in and exceeding the limits in all respects. In sex,
morals, participation in group orgies with men and females in the guise of sex
magic. His beliefs being a mixture of the occult, Hinduism and other philosophies
[2][3] An example of which is the Chakra [3a] defined within
Crowley's religion of Thelema and used in somewhat his
particular way. Hinduism in my opinion is the fundamental basis of all the
various forms of Satanism.
DMT Hallucinogens and the
consciousness new age
New age therapies such as those of the Ayahuasca ceremonies
are seen as cures to certain addictions, participants travel to south America
and partake in shamanistic ceremonies involving rituals and intoxicants. This
is also a way in shamanism to get closer to the spirits, animal spirits and the
truth as they see it.
Rastafarianism
and marijuana.
Rastafarianism is an interesting case. What seems to me as a movement with
elements of black nationalism and folk beliefs and superstitions. What is
interesting is the movements followers regard Haile Salasse (former emperor of
Ethiopia) as God Incarnate. Committing Major Shirk whilst indulging in
Intoxication through marijuana use. Sages, Shamans, occultists use of
marijuana is common and rooted in centuries old traditions. The outcomes of
this use and "contacting the spirits" usually differ tradition to
tradition manifesting in various forms of Shirk, serpent worship (African),
god-man worship and other associations with Allah.
Hashish, India
and Hinduism
Hashish use and intoxication in India was and is used by certain "holy
men" to attain nearness to the "Truth" as they see it.
Rooted in the Old
Aryan ways in India the Indo-Iranians would partake in drug use. The
Sadhus and various other Holy men use of mind-altering intoxication to seek the
truth [4].
The Vedic texts mention use of
the soma juice (mixture from the ephedra plant most likely amphetamine based
substance) a hymn to the God Indra states
"... To him the richest of the
rich, the Lord of treasures excellent, Indra, with Soma juice outpoured. "
HYMN V. Indra.
phallus
worship
Definition of a
phallus, a penis, especially when erect (typically used with reference
to male potency or dominance
In Phallus worship,
we can see how "mocking" the worship of the creator is manifested. An
erect Penis is given attention of worship. One wonders the origin of this
type of worship and who brought it and why the people are satisfied in its
worship.
Phallus
worship appears in Harappan Civilization, which later is connected with Lord Shiva.
According to Rig-Veda Non-Aryan, people were also worshippers of Phallus.
Phallus worship was started by Harappans, which later evolved and became
respectable form of worship among Hindus [5]
Conclusion
We can see now how action,
being good, doing good, charity, is always rooted in someone's belief intrinsically
connected and is a manifestation of it. The act of goodness, its appearance, is
for the materialists an act or receiving something back materially. Goodness
for the sake of clan membership, race, nationality, your president, to look
good (celebrity goodness) or just the cultural norm. If good acts are not
connected to God Alone in purity from an Islamic standpoint they are ultimately
worthless. So what do we say about the one who performs acts of Goodness
out of their respect to Lord Krishna and Iblees (Satan), let alone doing
acts of goodness out of a sense of kinship to someone:
“And We will approach what they have
done of deeds and make them as dispersed dust.” (Quran: 25:23)
Interestingly both
intoxicants and gambling can be self-destructive addictions. A question must be
put, is the addiction only the "seeking of the dopamine" hit, is it
purely a biological a naturalistic phenomenon similar to that of certain
psychosis and mental health disorders. In my opinion, both have definite
demonic involvement.
I have illustrated some the ways
"intoxication" and its outcome Shirk (Paganism) in how humankind has
been misled from the natural way against the message of the prophets.
Intoxication is often seen to get closer to the "Truth" rather the
people are being misled in various ways.. Exceeding the limits is the way of of
Shaitan, his whisperings, rejection of the prophets and Shirk is the root of
all evil and will without doubt be swayed by the Shaitan.
".. O you who have believed,
indeed, intoxicants (khamr), gambling, [sacrificing on] stone altars [to other
than God], and divining arrows are but defilement (abomination/filth) from the
work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. (Quran 5: 90).
